Adonijah

Ah-doh-NIGH-juh

Who is Adonijah?

Adonijah is the son of King David by Haggith (2 Samuel 3:4). After David grew old, Adonijah exalted himself and claimed the throne, saying I will be king, and gathered chariots, horsemen, and fifty men to run before him (1 Kings 1:5), a bid that failed when Solomon was made king instead.
