Who is Abihail?
Abihail is a name borne by several different people in the Old Testament, men and women alike. One Abihail was the father of Zuriel, chief of the house of the families of Merari (Numbers 3:35), while the wife of Abishur was also called Abihail (1 Chronicles 2:29). Another Abihail is named as the uncle of Mordecai and the father of Esther, both when she goes in to the king and when she writes to confirm Purim (Esther 2:15, Esther 9:29).
