Abba
AB-uh
What is Abba?
Abba is an Aramaic word for father that the New Testament keeps untranslated and sets immediately beside the word Father. Jesus uses it in Gethsemane, praying Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee, take away this cup from me (Mark 14:36). Paul twice puts the same cry in the mouth of believers who have received the Spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6).
Meaning: father (Aramaic)
