Morning Prayers
Morning Prayer for Focus and Productivity
For the days when you sit down to work and end up everywhere except where you need to be. When your attention is scattered and the guilt of wasted time is louder than the distractions. A prayer to get locked in.
God, I need to be locked in today. Not scattered. Not distracted. Not pulled in fifteen directions by notifications and noise and other people's urgency disguised as my emergency. I waste more time than I want to admit. I start strong and drift. I sit down to work and twenty minutes later I'm somewhere I never intended to be. And at the end of the day I look back and wonder what I actually accomplished. I know the cost of that. Missed deadlines. Half-finished work. The quiet guilt of knowing I had the time I just didn't steward it well. I don't want that today. I'm asking you to sharpen my mind this morning. Help me see clearly what matters today and have the courage to say no to what doesn't. Not everything that's urgent is important. Help me know the difference. Guard my attention. It's one of the most valuable things I have and I give it away too easily. To my phone. To worry. To things that feel productive but produce nothing. Help me be ruthless with my time today not in a way that's harsh to people but in a way that honors the work you've given me. I want to be like what David described. Planted. Fruitful. Not blown around by every distraction. Psalm 1 says Like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. That's the picture. Not frantic productivity. Rooted productivity. The kind that comes from being connected to the right source. So today I choose the stream over the noise. I choose depth over breadth. I choose finishing one thing well over starting five things poorly. And when the distractions come and they will come remind me what I'm planted for. Order my steps today, Lord. My hours. My energy. My attention. Let me look back tonight and see a day that mattered. Not a perfect day. But a faithful one. In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
