Prayer for Guidance and Direction

Father, I have decisions in front of me. Some are small. Some will shape more than I realize. And I don't always trust myself to know the difference. I've been wrong before. I've chosen comfort when you were calling me to courage. I've called fear wisdom. I've called impatience faith. I've moved ahead because waiting felt too hard. I don't want to do that today. Show me where to go. Not the whole map. Just the next step. Just enough light for the next step. Show me what to say. Show me what to leave unsaid. Show me when to move and when to stay still. And when I can't see past today, remind me that you can. That you've already been to the place I'm afraid of. That nothing about my life surprises you. Not my detours. Not my doubt. Not my delays. When my fear gets loud, let your voice be louder. When my anxiety starts writing stories about the future, anchor me in what is true right now. You are with me. You are leading me. You are not confused. Give me discernment for the little choices too. The tone of my voice. The pace of my day. The yes I should offer. The no I need to keep. So I release the need to have everything figured out. The knowing is yours. The next step is mine. Help me take it. You have been leading your people this way forever, Lord. Psalm 25 says Your word is a lamp. Not a floodlight. Not a spotlight. A lamp. Just enough to see what's right in front of me. Just enough to move without panic. I will trust you with what I can't see. I will follow the lamp and stop demanding the floodlight. Order my steps, Lord. Not my timeline. Not my preferred outcome. My steps. One at a time. In your direction. Thank you for being the kind of guide who doesn't walk away. You don't hand me instructions and disappear. You walk with me. Even when I hesitate. Even when I doubt. Keep me close enough to hear you whisper. Close enough to obey quickly. Close enough to trust you when the path narrows. And if I drift, pull me back gently. In the name of Jesus, I pray.
