Morning Prayer for Protection
For the mornings when the world feels dangerous and you need to know someone's watching. Not a vague comfort. A real covering. A prayer to step outside knowing you're not exposed.
Father, I come to you this morning before the world rushes in. Before the noise. Before the worry. Before the weight of everything I'm carrying settles on me again. Right now it's just this. Just me and you. I give you this day. All of it. The parts I can plan and the parts I can't. The conversations I expect and the moments that will surprise me. I'm asking to walk through all of it with you. I don't know what's coming today. I don't know what news I'll get or what pressure I'll feel by noon. But I know that you do. You've already seen this day from beginning to end. Nothing in it will surprise you. And that steadies me. Lord, cover me today. Cover my mind from anxiety. Cover my heart from bitterness. Cover my mouth from words I can't take back. Keep me from reacting too fast. Help me listen before I speak. Walk with me into every room I enter. Go ahead of me into every situation I'm not ready for. Stand behind me when I feel like I'm falling. Protect the people I love. You know their names. You know what they're carrying. Hold them close today. I rest on what you promised, Lord. Psalm 91 says Thank you, Father. You spoke that before I knew I'd need it. You are my refuge. My fortress. Not a metaphor I pull out on hard days. The actual place I run to when the world gets loud and I can't find my footing. I am not walking into this day alone. I want to let that actually land. Not alone in the hard conversations. Not alone in the quiet overwhelm nobody else can see. Not alone in the moments when I wonder if I'm enough for what's being asked of me. You are with me in every one of those places. Already there before I arrive. And when tonight comes and I lie down and try to remember what I was so afraid of this morning, I'll thank you for every moment you held me through. Every one I noticed and every one I didn't. In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
